Jennifer Olkowski

Mental Health Therapist

I am a mental health therapist with over 20 years of experience helping clients move through their crisis and challenges and life adjustments. I trained and certified as a Daring Way Facilitator, in the work of Brene Brown, a researcher who specializes in vulnerability and shame. I am also specially trained in exposure and response prevention, a highly evidenced based treatment for OCD and anxiety disorders. My current passion is working towards my certification as an Emotion Focused Therapist, which I am bringing to individuals, couples and families.

Much to my family’s delight and chagrin, I continue to do my own vulnerability work. I have wonderful and hard conversations. Sometimes during those conversations, I’m so scared, that it feels like my heart is going to pop out of my chest because it is beating so fast and hard. The pain of carrying resentments became greater than my fear of just speaking my truth. And while all of this is hard, there is a freedom I am experiencing that is pretty fricking awesome.
 

I live in Wisconsin with my husband and 2 boys. I have one dog and two cats. My happy places include being in the kitchen, cooking up a storm, being on the water, training my dog and sometimes photography. I get fired up about all things social justice!

Emotionally focused therapy with Jennifer has been a game changer for us.
 

Jennifer is a skilled therapist with an ability to zero in on emotions and problems at their roots. She has a way of peeling back the layers to get to the core of what each person is feeling and believing. She is incredibly perceptive and maintains awareness of each person throughout the process. She creates a safe environment where both of us feel heard and understood. 

Jennifer has helped us learn about our relationship, each other's inner worlds, and has even increased awareness of own emotional states. She has helped us grow individually and as a couple. 

Despite many years together, we previously had very little ability to emotionally connect.
With the help of Jennifer, we are connecting in ways we never have before.
